Google has recently intensified its showcase of the prototype Android XR glasses, revealing intriguing details about the companion app associated with the device. A newly surfaced image hints at the app’s resemblance to the familiar interface of the Pixel Watch, while intriguingly referring to the glasses as “Martha.”
First unveiled late last year, these prototype glasses have been featured in several live demonstrations. Although they lack an official name, the internal moniker “Martha” has emerged, as evidenced by a recent image of the app, which was highlighted by SERoundtable. The app identifies the glasses as “Google Martha,” suggesting that this could be a working codename for the device. This revelation follows a demo presented at the I/O event, where the “Martha” designation had not been previously noted.
App Features and Design
The app itself appears to be a streamlined version of the Pixel Watch application, maintaining a similar layout. Key sections within the app include:
- Notifications
- Settings
- Record your view
- Give quick feedback
- Report a problem
It is clear that this app is still in its developmental stages, designed primarily for testers of the glasses—an enviable position for those fortunate enough to experience it firsthand. The amusing aspect lies in Google’s decision to utilize the foundational elements of the Pixel Watch app as a basis for this new application.
As it stands, these glasses remain in the prototype phase, yet they are anticipated to serve as the groundwork for a pair of glasses that Samsung plans to launch next year.
