Intel Unison, the free application designed to bridge the gap between Android devices and Windows PCs, is set to cease operations on June 30, 2025. This announcement has been communicated to users through updates on the Windows version of the app, as well as on its listings in the Microsoft Store, Google Play Store, and App Store.
- As of the end of June 2025, Intel Unison will no longer be available, and its features will be discontinued.
- The app has been recognized for its ability to transform Android tablets into external displays, enabling a seamless multi-device experience.
- Users have enjoyed functionalities such as making calls and sending texts directly from their Windows PCs, alongside the convenience of drag-and-drop file transfers.
While some of these features can be replicated using the Microsoft Phone Link app, many users have found Intel Unison to offer a more comprehensive and user-friendly experience. As the transition approaches, the Microsoft Store listing has clearly stated, “Intel Unison will soon be discontinued,” marking the beginning of the app’s phased wind-down.
Interestingly, Lenovo Aura platforms will continue to support Intel Unison through the end of 2025, providing a temporary refuge for users of those specific devices. A recent blog post on HP’s Tech Takes page emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to innovative solutions that enhance productivity across various devices, acknowledging that while specific connectivity options may evolve, the necessity for efficient device management remains unchanged.
Intel Unison’s hardware requirements were primarily tailored for Windows 11 machines operating on at least version 22H2, with a minimum recommendation of a 12th-generation Intel Core i5 processor. However, the application was also compatible with non-Intel machines, broadening its accessibility. Notably, certain Intel Evo 13th-generation and later devices came pre-installed with Intel Unison, further integrating the app into the user experience.
As the discontinuation date looms, users seeking to maintain connectivity between their Android devices and Windows PCs will need to pivot to Microsoft Phone Link, which is poised to become the primary solution for this integration.
