In a strategic move to streamline its streaming offerings, Disney is set to enhance the user experience by merging its popular platforms, Disney+ and Hulu, into a single application in select markets. This initiative, which has already been implemented in countries like the Philippines, will soon extend to additional regions, including the United States.

Integration of Services

Following its acquisition of Hulu from Comcast, Disney has taken full ownership of the streaming service, paving the way for a more cohesive viewing experience. Starting next year, subscribers can expect a unified Disney+ app that incorporates the extensive content library of Hulu, while still maintaining the individual identities of both services.

Despite this integration, Hulu will continue to exist as a standalone brand, with Disney offering separate subscription plans for both Disney+ and Hulu. This means that users can still enjoy the unique offerings of each platform while benefiting from the convenience of a single app interface.

Rebranding and Content Availability

In conjunction with this transition, Disney plans to rebrand its Star service, which serves as Hulu’s counterpart in certain territories, to simply Hulu. This change is expected to take place in the fall, further aligning Disney’s streaming services under a unified brand identity.

For those already enjoying the combined app experience in countries like the Philippines, the Disney+ subscription will remain unchanged. Subscribers will continue to have access to a diverse array of content, including beloved Disney, Pixar, and Marvel titles, alongside acclaimed Hulu originals such as The Bear and Only Murders in the Building.
