What is AnduinOS?
AnduinOS is a custom Linux distribution built on the Ubuntu framework, designed to provide a user-friendly experience for newcomers to Linux. The latest release addresses previous concerns and introduces Wayland, which enhances performance and usability. The distribution features a customized GNOME desktop environment that mimics the look and feel of Windows, allowing users to navigate effortlessly. Preinstalled Software
This distribution is intentionally minimalistic in its preinstalled software offerings, including only Firefox, the Geary email client, a music player, a video player, and some essential utilities. Upon installation, users are prompted to enable the Windows Compatibility Sandbox, which facilitates the seamless running of Windows applications. Once activated, downloading and installing Windows applications becomes straightforward; simply double-click the installer file, and the system will guide you through the installation process.
Android Apps
While Waydroid is not preinstalled, setting it up on AnduinOS is remarkably simple. The full Wayland support ensures that Waydroid operates flawlessly. Users can install it by executing two straightforward commands in the terminal. Once installed, the Waydroid icon appears in the start menu, allowing immediate access to the Android environment, which can be minimized and accessed alongside the desktop.

As a standard Linux desktop distribution, AnduinOS performs admirably, matching the stability and speed of its counterparts. Applications install easily, including local AI tools like Ollama, and customization is user-friendly thanks to the Anduin Appearance app and GNOME Settings.
