On May 20, Google unveiled its latest offerings in the realm of artificial intelligence: the AI Pro and AI Ultra subscription plans. While the AI Ultra plan is currently exclusive to users in the United States, Google has indicated that it will soon expand to other regions.
- The AI Pro subscription enhances the existing Gemini Advanced plan, providing a comprehensive suite of AI tools integrated across Google applications. This includes innovative features such as Flow, a new AI filmmaking tool, and Notebook LM.
- AI Ultra, positioned as the premium tier, boasts advanced AI models like Veo 3 and 2.5 Pro Deep Think, along with early access to experimental features. Notably, it offers significantly increased storage capacity and includes a YouTube Premium subscription.
The AI Pro plan is designed to cater to users seeking a more robust experience, featuring higher rate limits and the newly integrated Gemini capabilities across Gmail, Docs, and Vids. Additionally, users can take advantage of the Whisk tool, powered by Veo 2, which facilitates the creation of videos from images. Subscribers will also benefit from up to 2 TB of storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. Priced at 9.99 per month, first-time users can enjoy a 50% discount for the first three months, bringing the cost down to 9.99.
Within the AI Ultra plan, the Gemini app introduces exclusive features, including the cutting-edge Veo 3 video generation model, while the AI Pro plan includes the previous Veo 2 model. Furthermore, the Ultra plan incorporates the 2.5 Pro Deep Think model, enhancing research capabilities beyond what the Pro plan offers. The NotebookLM feature will also provide users with the highest limits available, with additional model capabilities expected to be rolled out later this year.
Moreover, the AI Ultra plan includes early access to Project Mariner, an innovative feature that streamlines tasks through an agentic research prototype. Users will also gain early access to an upcoming experimental capability known as Agent Mode, set to debut on desktop platforms.
In a recent press release, Google elaborated on the capabilities of Gemini, noting that users can simply articulate their objectives, allowing the system to intelligently orchestrate the necessary steps to achieve them. This includes leveraging advanced features such as live web browsing, comprehensive research, and seamless integration with Google applications, all designed to facilitate the management of complex, multi-step tasks.
As an added bonus, the Ultra plan also provides subscribers with a YouTube Premium individual plan, alongside an impressive total of 30 TB of storage for Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail.
