dbForge 2026.2 Adds a PostgreSQL Debugger, Visual Object Editors and Broader Context for dbForge AI Assistant

Devart has released dbForge 2026.2, a unified database management ecosystem for PostgreSQL developers, featuring an embedded PostgreSQL Debugger that allows for efficient error tracking in server-side code. The Debugger enables breakpoints, step-through code execution, and real-time monitoring of variables and query results. Visual editors for PostgreSQL event triggers, functions, and procedures have been introduced, allowing for easier management without manual SQL writing. The dbForge AI Assistant now offers expanded context awareness, enabling users to attach various documents and select from multiple AI models for generating relevant SQL code. A free Express edition of the AI Assistant is available, with limited features compared to paid plans. Additionally, new SQL refactoring commands and schema comparison improvements have been implemented, along with updates for compatibility with MySQL 26.7 and MariaDB 13.x.

The planner assesses various configurations, especially in complex joins, to select the most efficient option. Instances of poor planning are treated as bugs and addressed promptly. To improve query performance, users are advised to refresh statistics with ANALYZE, use CREATE STATISTICS for column correlations, modify indexes, and adjust memory settings. In cases where the query cannot be altered, providing planner advice may be necessary, particularly when the planner misestimates the output of PL/pgSQL functions or other custom functions, leading to inefficient query execution.

A week with Googlebooks: four notes from our testing so far

The Googlebooks include a file transfer trick you probably didn’t know about

The recently launched Googlebooks features include Quick Access functionality, allowing seamless file management between a paired Android phone and the Googlebook. Users can access their phone's Downloads, Documents, and Camera folders through the Files app. Quick Access supports drag-and-drop for files under 200MB, while larger files should use the Quick Share feature. The Pixel 11’s HiLight feature is too limited, but I fixed it with this free app

The Google Pixel 11 series introduces the HiLight feature, which consists of eight multicolor LEDs on the back of the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. HiLight currently has limited functionality, primarily illuminating one of five colors for designated favorite contacts and activating during the use of the Gemini voice assistant. Users can customize HiLight for only five contacts, which may lead to color confusion. A free open-source app called HiLight Studio, developed by Dhananjay Bhosale and available on GitHub and the Google Play Store, enhances user control over the LED lights. Setting up HiLight Studio is straightforward, requiring the Shizuku app and enabling developer options on the device. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features IP68 durability and magnetic Qi2 support, allowing users to utilize HiLight through the HiLight Studio app.

Windows 7’s Aero Shake never disappeared from Windows 11, how to enable it right now

Windows 11 includes the Aero Shake feature, also known as "Title bar window shake," which allows users to minimize all other open windows by shaking the title bar of the active window. This feature is disabled by default and can be activated by navigating to Settings > System > Multitasking.
