Qobuz has officially unveiled its Android TV app, now accessible on the Google Play Store, marking a significant step in bringing its extensive hi-res and lossless music catalog directly to the largest screen in your home: the television. This new app is compatible with all TVs and devices that operate on Google TV or older Android TV systems.
After a beta version was released last year for select testers to explore the big-screen interface, the app has now transitioned to a full launch, providing users with the complete Qobuz experience on their TVs. The interface allows for seamless browsing of an expansive library that includes albums, playlists, editorial selections, and personal favorites, all enhanced by tailored recommendations designed for a larger display.
Enhanced Audio Experience
Each track streams in either CD-quality or hi-res audio, contingent on the capabilities of the user’s setup. A standout feature, Qobuz Connect, simplifies the listening experience by eliminating the need to juggle multiple remotes. Launched in March, this feature allows users to stream high-resolution music directly from the app to compatible hi-fi devices, similar to offerings from competitors like Spotify and Tidal. With Qobuz Connect, playback can be controlled effortlessly from a smartphone or tablet while the music resonates through the TV.
“This app embodies our desire to be accessible wherever people listen to music, from headphones to the living room, while preserving what makes Qobuz unique: audio quality and editorial richness,” stated Axel Destagnol, Chief Product Officer at Qobuz. This launch positions Qobuz to compete more effectively in the living room listening space, an area historically dominated by rivals such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal, all of which have established native TV applications.
Founded in 2007, Qobuz is an independent music platform recognized as a pioneer in high-quality sound, offering a distinctive alternative in the streaming landscape. Currently available in 26 countries, including regions across Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, and Japan, Qobuz boasts a catalog of over 100 million tracks in lossless quality—ranging from CD and hi-res (24-bit/up to 192 kHz) to DXD and DSD—solidifying its position as a leader in the hi-res music market.
