Google is currently enhancing its Quick Share feature on Android, presenting a fresh redesign that has recently come to light. This service, often likened to Apple’s AirDrop, has been evolving steadily, with notable updates including QR code sharing and enhancements to its Windows application, as well as clearer messaging for users setting up new devices.
In a recent analysis of the latest Google Play Services update, Android Authority uncovered a redesigned interface for Quick Share, which introduces a more streamlined user experience. The new layout features two distinct tabs: “Receive” and “Send.”
- The “Receive” tab showcases how your device appears to others, along with any incoming share requests.
- The “Send” tab maintains its familiar function, displaying available targets for sending files. A new “Add Files” option has been incorporated, allowing users to manually select files for sharing.
This redesign hints at the possibility of Quick Share functioning as a standalone application, rather than merely a feature accessed through the sharing menu. Additionally, the settings page, which includes options for managing sharing permissions, is also undergoing a redesign, suggesting a polished and user-friendly interface is on the horizon.
Speculation about the launch of these updates is rife, especially considering that a similar design was spotted in a recent leak related to One UI 8. However, the exact timeline for the rollout remains uncertain.
