Auto Blocker Feature on Samsung Galaxy Smartphones
Samsung has introduced a new feature called “Auto Blocker” on its latest Galaxy smartphones, aimed at enhancing security measures. This feature, which was initially designed to protect against malware and USB hijacking, now includes the blocking of sideloading Android apps on devices running One UI 6.1.1.
The new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are the first devices to come with this sideloading restriction pre-installed. Users will encounter a notification during the initial setup process, informing them of the Auto Blocker restrictions and providing an option to turn them off.
If users miss this notification and attempt to sideload an app, they will receive an error message indicating the restriction. However, the good news is that this feature can easily be toggled off by navigating to Settings > Security and privacy > Auto Blocker.
This change is specific to devices running One UI 6.1.1, including recent Samsung foldables and Galaxy S models. For older versions of One UI, this restriction does not apply at the moment.
