Spotify continues to innovate in the realm of music streaming, recently unveiling a sleek new feature for Wear OS smartwatches. Users have reported encountering a minimalist “Now Playing” screen while using the app on devices such as the Galaxy Watch 7, which operates on One UI 8 Watch.
Streamlined User Experience
This fresh interface, observed by a Telegram user known as @Fitzingout, emphasizes the album art and track details prominently, opting for a clean aesthetic devoid of traditional music controls. Instead of buttons, Spotify has introduced gesture-based interactions: a simple tap pauses or resumes playback, while a double-tap on the right advances to the next track, and a double-tap on the left returns to the previous one.
While this new feature is certainly eye-catching, it is currently part of a limited server-side test by Spotify. As such, not all users have access to this updated experience just yet. Those who do can still access the conventional Now Playing screen, which includes standard music controls, by swiping up from the cover art display.
Spotify’s ongoing enhancements, including recent additions like Page Match and About the Song, reflect the company’s commitment to enriching the user experience for both music and audiobook listeners. As the tech landscape evolves, it will be interesting to see how Spotify continues to refine its offerings and engage its audience.
