Telegram’s finally getting an official Wear OS app again

Telegram has made a notable return to the Wear OS landscape, reintroducing its app for smartwatches after a hiatus that began in 2021. This new version is currently accessible to users participating in Telegram’s beta program, allowing them to download the app directly from the Play Store.

Features of the New Wear OS App

The revamped wearable app closely mirrors the functionality of its full counterpart, offering familiar features such as customizable chat backgrounds. According to SammyGuru, navigating through large group chats is streamlined thanks to a thoughtfully designed condensed layout. Users will also find a convenient Open on Phone button, enabling them to seamlessly transition back to their mobile devices to continue conversations.

Prior to this launch, the absence of a dedicated Telegram app on Wear OS left users with limited options, relying instead on generic notification features or third-party applications to manage their messaging needs while on the move. Now, with the new app, Telegram aims to enhance the user experience for those who prefer to stay connected through their wearable devices.

For those interested in exploring this new functionality, the option to install the Wear OS version of Telegram is available on the Play Store for beta participants. If you are not yet enrolled in the beta program but wish to join, simply navigate to the bottom of Telegram’s Play Store page and select Join in the designated section for the beta program.
