AI
The first major update to the Google Play app on Android phones introduces AI capabilities. This feature, announced during Google I/O, allows users to utilize AI to browse and display app reviews, compare apps in similar categories, and provide highlights about the app for easier reading and relevance.
Curated spaces
Google Play now offers curated spaces, providing a centralized location to discover apps related to specific subjects. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast in India or a comic book fan in Japan, curated spaces offer access to all relevant content in one place, including free chapter previews, live events, trailers, editor picks, and fan reviews from apps you haven’t installed yet.
Multi-select interest filters
Enhancing user experience, Google Play introduces multi-select interest filters such as genre, allowing users to specify preferences when searching for new games without the need to browse through app charts.
Google Play Games for PC
PC users can now enjoy Google Play Games with the addition of multi-game capabilities. This feature enables users to play two games simultaneously and competitively, providing multiplayer support for an enhanced gaming experience.
Collections
Collections make a comeback in the form of a widget that can be added to the home screen. This widget displays downloaded apps, books, TV shows, and other content, making it easy for users to resume their activities seamlessly.
Play Points
The Play Point system receives an upgrade with the introduction of Super Weekly Prizes. Users can now participate in weekly events to win physical prizes, including Pixel gear like a Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro, and phones. The drawing is exclusive to Gold, Platinum, and Diamond members in select regions.
New controls
Google Play now offers users more control over app data with new settings accessible through the Personalization section in the main menu. Users can customize which apps are used within Google Play for a personalized experience.
