This is Google’s New Weather App for Pixel 9

Google is set to unveil a revamped Weather app alongside the Pixel 9 series next week, as reported by Android Authority. This announcement raises eyebrows, considering the app underwent a significant redesign just last year with the launch of the Pixel Fold. The decision to overhaul the app again so soon is indeed intriguing.

The new iteration will maintain its integration with the existing Pixel Weather app, debuting exclusively on the Pixel 9 before rolling out to older Pixel models, as is customary with Google’s updates. Android Authority has previewed the final version of the app, revealing some notable changes.

Google’s Weather app goes minimal

In this latest redesign, Google embraces a minimalist aesthetic, particularly in contrast to the current version available on Pixel devices. The temperature display takes center stage, now larger and more prominent than before. Previously, the temperature was relatively small, sharing space with the high and low readings as well as the real-feel temperature.

This fresh approach not only enhances readability but also allows users to access essential information at a glance. The design leans more towards the Material Design ethos, aligning seamlessly with many of Google’s existing widget shapes and sizes. While the app retains all the familiar data points, it presents them in a more visually appealing manner.

Additionally, the location selection screen has received a subtle makeover. Although it retains a familiar look, there is now a greater emphasis on current weather conditions and temperature, enhancing user experience.

More details about this new weather app will be revealed during the upcoming Made by Google event next week, although it is unlikely that the keynote will delve deeply into the app’s features.
