Android has long faced challenges in the realm of tablet-optimized applications, particularly when compared to the rich ecosystem available for iPads. In an effort to bridge this gap, Samsung made strides three years ago by facilitating the introduction of notable applications such as LumaFusion, a professional-grade video editor, and Clip Studio Paint, a drawing application tailored for creatives. Recently, LumaFusion has taken a significant step forward by incorporating support for high dynamic range (HDR) video editing.
New version of LumaFusion for Android can edit HDR videos
The latest iteration of LumaFusion, now at version 2.3 for Android devices, proudly includes the capability to edit HDR videos. Currently, this feature is available on select Android devices, likely limited to those equipped with HDR-capable screens, predominantly found in high-end Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
To determine if your device is compatible with HDR video editing in LumaFusion, users can initiate a new project within the app and navigate to the Color Space option. If the following color spaces appear, your device is indeed capable of HDR video editing:
- Standard – Rec. 709 – 10-bit
- Wide Gamut HDR – HLG
- Wide Gamut HDR – HDR10 (PQ)
- Wide Gamut – Display P3
In addition to the exciting new HDR capabilities, this version of LumaFusion addresses several bugs, enhancing the overall user experience by fixing issues related to blank clips, title presets, and voiceovers. Users can conveniently download the app from either the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store, with a notable price difference observed; in India, the app is available at a 50% discount on the Galaxy Store compared to its Play Store counterpart.
