Gemini, the innovative app designed to enhance user interaction with text prompts, has recently streamlined its image-sharing capabilities. Previously, users faced a multi-step process to incorporate images into their prompts, requiring them to navigate through the app, locate the desired image in their gallery, and then add their text. This was particularly cumbersome if the images were stored in Google Photos or other cloud services, necessitating additional steps for retrieval.
With the latest update, version 1.0.668480831, Gemini has introduced a more efficient method for sharing images directly from other applications, including Google Photos. Users will now notice a Gemini icon appearing in the Android share sheet, allowing them to send images seamlessly to the app. However, it’s important to note that this feature is limited to images; links and text cannot be shared in this manner.
During preliminary tests, it was observed that when an image is shared, the full Gemini app opens, which may disrupt the user experience by requiring them to exit their current application. Many users might find it more convenient if this functionality were available within the overlay interface, allowing for a smoother transition without leaving their ongoing tasks.
This new feature is currently rolling out to Gemini users on Android, enhancing the overall usability of the app and making it easier for users to enrich their prompts with visual content.
