The report reveals a resilient growth in the tech workforce, which expanded by 1.2% in 2024, bringing the total to an impressive 5.9 million professionals. Projections indicate a further increase, with expectations of reaching 6.1 million by 2025.
State and City Insights
The report highlights the correlation between state size and tech employment, with California, Texas, New York, Florida, and Virginia emerging as the leading states in this sector. Notably, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, and Tennessee have experienced the most significant growth. On the urban front, cities such as New York City, Orlando, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and Baltimore have shown remarkable advancements in tech job opportunities.
Meta joins Kotlin Foundation
In a strategic move, Meta has joined the Kotlin Foundation, a decision that aligns with its ongoing efforts to promote Kotlin within its development ecosystem. Over the past few years, Meta has been transitioning its Android codebase from Java to Kotlin, sharing insights through an enterprise Java-to-Kotlin working group. Additionally, the company has open-sourced a Kotlin and Android build toolchain known as Buck2.
As a member of the Kotlin Foundation, Meta is set to contribute to a grants program aimed at supporting open-source library authors and fostering innovation among students.
Percona announces Transparent Data Encryption extension for PostgreSQL
