Windows 11’s Interface and Legacy Features
Despite its presentation as a modern operating system, Windows 11 continues to exhibit features that reflect its historical roots. The operating system’s interface includes elements that have remained unchanged for an extended period. Additionally, certain settings and options are still reliant on the traditional Control Panel, a component that has been part of Windows for decades.
A notable example of Windows 11’s adherence to legacy features is the Format dialog. The developer responsible for creating this interface has pointed out that the current design, the available options, and the limitations, such as the 32GB size restriction for FAT volumes, were initially intended as temporary measures. However, these aspects have persisted over time and remain part of the operating system today.
