Users of the ChatGPT Android app may soon have access to a "Find in chat" feature that allows them to search for specific text within lengthy conversations via the three-dot menu. OpenAI is also enhancing the app's user interface by organizing the options under a new 'Plugins' category and introducing List and Grid display options for the Library. Additionally, users will be able to select multiple files at once and attach files from the ChatGPT Library to other chats using the “@” symbol. The timeline for the rollout of these features is currently uncertain. An APK teardown indicates potential future features, but there is no guarantee that all will be included in public releases.

Instagram has removed end-to-end encryption from its direct messaging feature, meaning messages are no longer fully private. Meta can access and analyze message content for moderation, citing low adoption rates and safety concerns as reasons for this decision. The change took effect on May 8, 2026, and allows Meta to combat issues like child exploitation, fraud, and harassment. Users can download their chats, but ongoing conversations are not protected by encryption. Meta suggests users transition to WhatsApp for continued end-to-end encryption.

Skills can operate on the current page while also pulling data from other open tabs. This feature is designed to streamline repetitive tasks and improve user experience by applying saved prompts without needing to reconfigure them for different pages. User consent is prioritized for significant actions, and the update is currently available to select users on Chrome desktop with English-US language settings. The latest beta version of the Google app (17.10.54.sa.arm64) has introduced several updates to the Gemini user interface, including a new "Discover" tab in the sidebar that currently leads to an empty page. The sidebar may be redesigned for a more streamlined layout, featuring a settings shortcut at the bottom. Gemini's "Thinking" responses will now be presented in a bottom sheet format for improved clarity. The sidebar serves as a navigation tool, allowing users to switch between chats and access app sections, with some variations tested appearing unfinished. One version successfully loads chat history and includes minor UI adjustments that align with the web interface design. The Gemini overlay has also been refined to separate input and responses, adding a prominent close button and repositioning the voice output feature. Not all features from the APK teardown may be included in the public release.
