Pixel 11’s new Pixel Search app could be coming to older Pixels

The Pixel Search app version 1.0.983036833 suggests compatibility with devices launched since 2021, specifically the Pixel 6 and newer models. This compatibility may allow older Pixels to access the app, depending on the stable release of Android 17 QPR2, expected in December 2026. However, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have reached their end-of-life status with the rollout of Android 17 QPR1 and are excluded from the beta program for Android 17 QPR2. Support for the Pixel Search app may ultimately be limited to the Pixel 6a and newer devices.

Nadella has lost the plot calling Copilot an OS again, it’s a web app on Windows 11

Satya Nadella has referred to Copilot as a “new OS for work” during a leadership update, following Microsoft's introduction of the latest iteration of Copilot. The new Copilot app, which replaces the previously named Microsoft 365 Copilot, is currently available for users, although some features like Home, Code, and Autopilot are still forthcoming. The app operates as a standard Windows application, specifically a rebranded Microsoft Edge launcher built on a Chromium framework. Nadella reiterated his vision for Copilot in a post dated October 1, emphasizing its role in consolidating various work functions into a single platform. The Copilot app integrates features such as Home, Office applications, and a proactive command center named Today. Currently, the app primarily functions as a chat interface, with significant features yet to be rolled out. The architecture of Copilot relies on a lightweight launcher and a complete Edge build, resulting in high RAM consumption. Microsoft has shifted Copilot’s architecture from a native WinUI version to a web-based wrapper, supported by a secondary component for additional functionalities. Internal documents reveal a vision for a prototype called CopilotOS, indicating a long-standing ambition to create a cohesive workspace.

Android Auto’s signal bars are finally returning to dashboards

Earlier this year, Android Auto users experienced the disappearance of cellular signal bars, which caused frustration among drivers. Google is currently rolling out a fix for this issue, with some users reporting the return of signal bars after updating to Android Auto v17.8, initially available as a beta release. Microsoft has shifted its approach regarding the Copilot key on laptops, moving away from a mandatory integration strategy. Users have reported that the key is often underutilized, with some finding it inconveniently placed. Microsoft has responded to feedback by allowing users to customize the Copilot key's functionality through Windows 11 settings. Users can assign various functions to the key, such as launching applications or acting as a shortcut for system functions. Additionally, Microsoft PowerToys can be used for more advanced customization, enabling users to remap the key for tasks like taking screenshots, managing clipboard history, or enhancing gaming experiences.
