Zelda: Twilight Princess PC port forced to change its name, and for once Nintendo has nothing to do with it

The developers of the unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess have rebranded the project as Dusklight to avoid trademark conflicts with an established first-person shooter named Dusk, which is owned by New Blood Interactive. The developers announced this decision in a Discord update, stating that no other changes to the project are planned. New Blood Interactive, which holds the trademark for Dusk, expressed appreciation for the developers' cooperation and hinted at a potential crossover between the two games. They are also offering keys for the Dusk Switch to the Dusklight community. Meanwhile, a fan-made port of Jak and Daxter 3 is currently in beta, completing Naughty Dog's trilogy on PC.

Doom is 10 years old today, and you can pick it up for just $2 on Steam

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the 2016 reboot of Doom, which has established its own legacy in the first-person shooter genre. Bethesda Softworks has reduced the price of Doom on Steam to £1.59/€2, a 90% discount from its regular price. The sale includes a variety of other titles and will end on May 15.

The Fortnite Overwatch collab is playing it safe, but at least it’s finally real

Fortnite has collaborated with Overwatch, introducing characters Tracer, Mercy, D.Va, and Genji into the game. This collaboration is part of the tenth-anniversary celebrations of Overwatch. The characters are featured in a trailer where they confront the Ice King's forces, with notable lines such as "Heroes never die" from Mercy and "The cavalry's here!" from Tracer. D.Va uses a sword instead of her mech suit, and Genji remains silent. The collaboration will include four new Fortnite skins, three emotes, new weapons, fresh landmarks, Overwatch NPCs in battle royale mode, quests and rewards, and a Porsche Cayenne SUV with Overwatch decals. The launch is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, as part of Chapter 7 Season 2 Act 3.

Path of Exile 2’s new boss-taming summoner class breaks ARPG minions like never before

The Path of Exile 2 Return of the Ancients update is set to launch on May 29, introducing significant changes, including a redesign of the endgame and a crafting overhaul. Two new Ascendancies will be added: the Martial Artist Monk and the Spirit Walker Huntress. The Spirit Walker Ascendancy allows players to control powerful beast bosses and features three branches: Vivid, Primal, and Wild. The Vivid Path summons stag spirits, the Primal Path enhances projectile skills, and the Wild Path provides a spirit bear companion that boosts minion damage and life. The Idolatry path expands minion build options. The Natural Order feature allows the Tame Beast skill to work on unique beasts, starting with early-game adversaries and escalating to tougher foes. Game director Mark Roberts showcased a "zookeeper build" that utilizes the unique scepter Sylvan's Effigy, which removes companion limits. Companion damage has been buffed, and new features include a raven flock and a cluster grenade launcher called Redemption.

Linux gains more critical Windows apps … 3D Movie Maker and Space Cadet Pinball

Several notable Windows applications, including Space Cadet Pinball and Microsoft 3D Movie Maker, have been successfully ported to Linux. Space Cadet Pinball, originally part of the Microsoft Plus Pack for Windows 95, has been decompiled and rebuilt, now available across 14 platforms, including Linux, thanks to Muzychenko Andrey. The source code for Microsoft 3D Movie Maker was released by Microsoft, and a new fork has been developed by Mark Cave-Ayland and Ben Stone, enabling it to run on Linux. Their project also includes bug fixes, 64-bit compatibility, and builds for ARM64 Windows, with plans for a Raspberry Pi version.
