Release of qBittorrent 5.2.3
On July 7, 2026, the latest version of the popular torrent client, qBittorrent 5.2.3, was released. Developed using the Qt toolkit, qBittorrent serves as an open-source alternative to µTorrent, offering a similar interface and functionality. The project’s source code, written in C++ and JavaScript, is publicly available on GitHub under the GPLv2+ license. Users can access qBittorrent builds for Linux, Windows, and macOS.
The journey of qBittorrent began with the release of version 4.0 in November 2017, followed by version 5.0 in September 2024, and version 5.1 in April 2025. The preceding version, 5.2, was introduced in May 2026, paving the way for the current update.
Among the notable features of qBittorrent are an integrated search engine, RSS feed subscription capabilities, support for various BEP extensions, remote management via a web interface, sequential downloading in a specified order, and advanced settings for torrents, peers, and trackers. Additionally, it includes a bandwidth scheduler and an IP filter, along with a user-friendly interface for creating torrents, and support for UPnP and NAT-PMP.
The qBittorrent 5.2.3 update primarily focuses on bug fixes and improvements, addressing several previously identified issues:
- Corrected plugin counting during updates;
- In Windows, prevented the use of invalid file attributes when renaming files;
- RSS: Fixed an issue where feeds did not adhere to the specified interval;
- Revised regular expressions for parsing HTML links;
- Implemented stricter analysis for peer address input;
- Fixed incorrect encoding for web seeds;
- Resolved an issue with incorrect conversion of torrent trackers;
