Release of qBittorrent 5.1.2
On July 2, 2025, the latest iteration of the popular torrent client, qBittorrent 5.1.2, was officially released. Developed using the robust Qt toolkit, qBittorrent serves as an open-source alternative to µTorrent, offering a familiar interface and a rich set of features. The project’s source code, crafted in C++ and JavaScript, is accessible on GitHub under the GPLv2+ license. Users can find builds of qBittorrent available for Linux, Windows, and macOS platforms. The journey began with the release of qBittorrent 4.0 in November 2017, followed by version 5.0 in September 2024.
qBittorrent boasts a variety of core functionalities that enhance user experience, including:

The recent update to version 5.1.2 primarily focuses on addressing previously identified bugs and issues. Notable improvements include patches for the WEBUI, which rectify incorrectly transferred changes, as well as the introduction of a backup update mechanism. Additionally, this version resolves a specific issue within the WEBAPI that involved the trimming of leading spaces in the “Run external program” fields. For macOS users, a fix has been implemented to prevent the application from blocking exit when the main window is closed.
