Хакеры скачали почти весь Spotify! Вы можете получить его через торрент, но размер файла вас просто поразит.

The hacker community has recently announced a significant achievement. The project known as Anna’s Archive, which brands itself as “the largest truly open library in human history,” has claimed to have successfully replicated—more accurately, downloaded—almost the entirety of Spotify’s music catalog, specifically 99.6% of the tracks available on the platform. The total volume of data reportedly amassed is nearly 300 TB, with the archive set to be distributed via torrents.

Members of the hacking collective describe this massive music download from Spotify as a form of backup, justifying their actions with a long-term mission to preserve “human knowledge and culture.” According to the creators of the project, this mission extends beyond texts, books, or academic papers—areas typically associated with their site—to include music as well. They assert that the opportunity to capture Spotify’s extensive library was one that simply could not be overlooked.

Insights into the Downloaded Catalog

Interestingly, reports indicate that the hackers did not manage to download the entire Spotify catalog, which is believed to contain around 256 million songs. Instead, they succeeded in acquiring approximately 86 million tracks. However, the hackers argue that this is largely inconsequential, as these songs encompass nearly all the music that users actively listen to on Spotify. Their selection process was guided by an internal popularity metric, focusing on tracks that had at least some level of listener engagement. In this way, they claim to have achieved near-complete coverage of the platform’s most relevant music.

Initial data analyses released by Anna’s Archive reveal intriguing insights. For instance, the three most popular songs on Spotify collectively have more streams than the one hundred least popular tracks in the catalog. This suggests that a significant portion of the music available on the platform remains largely unheard by the majority of users.

In response to this situation, Spotify issued a statement to Engadget, confirming that the accounts responsible for the breach and subsequent downloads have been deactivated. The company also mentioned that it has implemented new measures to counter such attacks, actively monitoring for suspicious behavior and has long supported artists in their fight against piracy. However, the effectiveness of these measures in practice remains to be seen.
