4 new Microsoft Teams features coming next month, including AI you’ll actually use and a must-have feature for saving time

Microsoft Teams is poised to unveil a suite of innovative features aimed at enhancing the user experience, particularly in the realm of meetings. Set to debut in April 2026, these advancements promise to streamline communication and improve recall of discussions. While the release timeline is subject to change, the current plan indicates a rollout beginning next month, making it an opportune moment to explore what’s on the horizon for Teams.

1. Intelligent Meeting Recaps

Among the most notable enhancements is the introduction of video-based recaps as part of intelligent meeting summaries. These recaps will feature video highlights accompanied by narration, along with short clips that underscore key moments from meetings, ensuring that participants can easily revisit important discussions.

2. Automatic Spoken Language Detection

In a bid to simplify multilingual interactions, Teams will implement automatic spoken language detection. This feature will eliminate the need for users to manually select their language, as the system will recognize and adapt in real-time. This capability will work seamlessly with captions and transcripts when the Interpreter function is enabled, enhancing accessibility during meetings with diverse participants.

3. Enhanced Copy and Paste Functionality

Another time-saving upgrade involves the copy and paste functionality within Teams. Users will now find that when they copy messages, @mentions and shared contacts will be preserved, eliminating the hassle of re-adding these elements manually and allowing for smoother communication.

4. Customizable Meeting Controls

To further enhance user focus, Teams will introduce an option to completely hide the meeting controls toolbar. This feature will allow users to maximize screen space during meetings, with the toolbar accessible again through cursor movement or tab functionality. Microsoft’s Jeff Teper has shared visual previews of this feature, indicating its anticipated arrival next month.

Other Changes

Additional improvements are also on the way, including expanded access for event organizers to manage private chats and an optimized experience for starting meetings with minimized windows. With these enhancements, Teams is set to redefine the meeting experience, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
