Almost half of Steam users are sticking with Windows 10

A recent survey conducted in January has unveiled that over 44% of users continue to depend on Windows 10, even as Microsoft prepares to phase out support for the operating system on October 14 of this year. Despite the availability of Windows 11 for nearly four years, its adoption rate remains sluggish. Many users appear unconvinced by the differences between the two operating systems, finding them neither compelling nor immediately apparent.

One of the more notable challenges facing Windows 11 is its stringent hardware requirements, which effectively exclude a number of older processors. This limitation has particularly impacted users with older laptops, leaving them in a quandary as they weigh their options for upgrading.

The survey also highlighted trends among gamers, revealing that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 stands out as the most popular graphics card among Steam users. In terms of memory, 16 GB of RAM has emerged as the most common configuration, while the majority of users boast hard drives exceeding 1 TB of total storage, with available free space typically ranging between 100 and 249 GB.

As the landscape of operating systems evolves, one must ask: Which operating system are you currently using, and does your average performance profile align with your PC’s specifications?
