Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4655 (Beta Channel)

Hello Windows Insiders, today marks the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4655 (KB5048753) to the Beta Channel. The updates in this build are categorized into two distinct segments: new features, improvements, and fixes that are gradually being rolled out to Insiders who have opted to receive the latest updates through the toggle in Settings > Windows Update, and those that are available to all users in the Beta Channel. For further details, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[Start menu]

  • The filtering for recommended websites on the Start menu is being enhanced based on feedback from Windows Insiders. This improvement aims to showcase the highest quality sites tailored to your browsing history. Your continued feedback is invaluable, especially if you encounter any recommendations that seem out of place.

[Spotlight on the lock screen]

  • We are experimenting with various treatments for the top right hotspot on the lock screen. By clicking on the “Like icon,” users can now delve deeper into the spotlight image displayed on their lock screen, leading them to the dedicated Spotlight landing page.

[Spotlight on the desktop]

  • Changes are being rolled out to the Desktop Spotlight icon interaction model. Users can now easily discover more about their background image by hovering over or clicking the “Learn about this picture” icon on their desktop.

[Windows Share]

  • When sharing links or web content through the Windows share window, a visual preview of the content will now be displayed, enhancing the sharing experience.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Beta Channel with toggle on*

[Taskbar]

  • An issue has been resolved where window previews were not appearing when hovering over certain open applications in the taskbar.

Microsoft Edge Game Assist (Preview)

Windows Insiders are invited to explore the new Microsoft Edge Game Assist (Preview). This innovative feature serves as the first in-game browser, delivering a gaming-centric browsing experience that includes access to your browser data from both PC and mobile devices. Game Assist is a specialized version of Microsoft Edge designed specifically for PC gaming, allowing it to overlay on top of your game within the Game Bar. It is game-aware and offers tips and guides relevant to your gameplay. Additionally, it shares the same browser data with Edge on your PC, ensuring that your favorites, history, cookies, and form fills are always accessible while you play. For more information on how to get started with Game Assist, please refer to the accompanying blog post.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel

  • Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 through an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx).
  • Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback.
  • For those eager to receive features gradually rolled out to you, you can enable the toggle to access the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features for those with the toggle activated. If you choose to keep this toggle off, new features will still be rolled out to your PC over time once they are ready.
  • It’s important to note that features and experiences included in these builds may not always be released, as we continuously test different concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced, and some may only be available to Windows Insiders.
  • Localization for features in active development may not be fully completed initially, but will be addressed over time as features are finalized. We encourage you to report any localization issues via the Feedback Hub.
  • As the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths, there may be instances where features appear in the Beta Channel before the Dev Channel.
  • For a comprehensive overview of which build is in which Insider channel, please visit Flight Hub.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon
