For more detailed information, please refer to the Reminders section at the end of this post.
Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out with toggle on*
[Context Menu]
- In a subtle yet impactful update, the context menu now aligns the “Open” verb with the icon of the file’s default application when right-clicking on .exe, .bat, or .cmd files.
- Feedback: We encourage you to share your thoughts in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under File Folders and Online Storage > File Explorer.
[Settings]
- Device Cards:
- Building on insights gained from previous releases, the ‘Device info’ Card on the Settings Home page has been refined. This update enhances the clarity of key device specifications and ensures consistency throughout the user journey from the Home Card to the Settings > System > About page. This improved consumer experience is currently being rolled out to Insiders in the United States.
- A tailored version of the Device info Card for enterprise users on IT-managed devices remains available.
- In the Settings > System > About section, based on early customer feedback, essential hardware details are now prominently displayed at the top of the page, allowing for quick comprehension of your device. The Device information section consolidates additional system details such as graphics and storage information, complete with easy copy/paste functionality for sharing or support scenarios. Currently, device-related frequently asked questions are not surfaced as we explore the best methods for delivering contextual help across Settings.
- Feedback: We invite you to share your insights in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under the Settings category.
[Taskbar & System Tray]
- The animations for mousing over app groups on the taskbar have received enhancements, adding a touch of fluidity to the user experience.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel
- Updates are based on Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (Build 26220.7872).
- Many features are rolled out using Controlled Feature Rollout technology, beginning with a select group of Insiders and gradually expanding as we monitor feedback to assess their reception before wider distribution.
- For those eager to be at the forefront of receiving features gradually rolled out to you, you can activate the toggle to receive the latest updates via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollout of features to all users who have this toggle enabled. If you choose to keep this toggle off, new features will be introduced to your PC over time as they become ready.
- It’s important to note that features and experiences included in these builds may not ultimately be released, as we experiment with various concepts and gather feedback. Features may evolve, be removed, or replaced and may not be available beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features could appear in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
- Localization for some features currently in active development may not be fully realized, but will be addressed over time as features are finalized. If you encounter localization issues in your language, please report them via the Feedback Hub.
