Hello Windows Insiders,
Enhancements to the Copilot App
In the latest update, Microsoft introduces a significant enhancement to the Copilot App on Windows, designed to streamline user experience and improve productivity. Users will now find that when they click on a link, the content opens in a convenient sidepane adjacent to their ongoing conversation. This innovative feature ensures that users can maintain context without the distraction of switching to a separate browser window.
With user consent, Copilot will also gain access to the context of the tabs opened during a conversation. This functionality allows users to ask clarifying questions, summarize information across multiple tabs, or seek assistance from Copilot in drafting precise wording for various tasks. Furthermore, any tabs opened will be saved alongside the conversation, enabling users to easily return to them later. For those who opt in, there is also an option to sync passwords and form data, simplifying workflows within the Copilot environment.
This update not only enhances the functionality of the Copilot App but also improves its speed and reliability, integrating the latest features that enrich the PC experience. Noteworthy additions include the incorporation of Podcasts and Study and Learn mode from Copilot.com. While some features may be temporarily removed as the team iterates on the user experience, priority functionalities will be reinstated before the app’s general release.
The rollout of these updates, specifically for Copilot app version 146.0.3856.39 and higher, is currently underway across all Insider Channels. Availability may vary as the rollout expands gradually to Insiders worldwide. The Microsoft team is eager to share these improvements with the Insider community, aiming to deliver an exceptional Copilot experience for all Windows users. With the enhanced capabilities of the web, users will find even greater efficiency in their tasks with Copilot.
