The recent introduction of the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus has significantly shifted the landscape for Windows applications designed for Arm-powered PCs. Among the notable developments is the long-awaited arrival of the Google Drive app for these devices, which has transitioned from beta to general availability.
In a recent blog post, Google announced that its Drive app is now fully accessible to all users operating Arm-powered PCs, including those equipped with the Snapdragon X chipsets. This update means that the latest Microsoft Surface laptops, along with various other brands, can now seamlessly integrate the Google Drive app into their systems.
“Last year, we introduced a new beta that supports running Google Drive on Arm-compatible Windows PCs, and today we’re excited to announce this is now generally available,” Google stated.
“Compiled for ARM64, this release enables users to easily sync and store files online from Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon processors.”
This native version of Google Drive for Windows enhances user experience by allowing direct access to Google Drive accounts through the Windows File Explorer. This integration creates a more intuitive environment for managing files, making it simpler to retrieve documents from Drive and upload new ones.
