How to make Windows search use Google instead of Bing

The Windows search function is a valuable asset for users, often providing quicker access to installed programs than navigating through the program menu. Beyond local searches, this input field can also facilitate internet searches, with Microsoft’s Bing serving as the default search engine. However, many users find that Bing’s results frequently fall short when compared to those from Google. Fortunately, there is a solution: the MS Edge Redirect tool, which allows users to seamlessly redirect their searches from Bing to Google. Here’s how to make this adjustment.

Installation and Configuration

To begin, users need to install the MS Edge Redirect tool. During the installation process, it is advisable to select the third option from the top: Active Mode – Recommended. This choice will automatically launch the tool’s configuration page. Here, users should check the box for Bing Search, which comes preset to replace Bing with Google. For those who prefer alternatives, the tool offers ten other search engines to choose from, along with an option to input a custom search engine. Once selections are made, clicking on Install will apply the changes. The tool can then be accessed through the program menu as usual.

Beyond merely replacing Bing, the MS Edge Redirect tool also provides the flexibility to modify other shortcuts linked to Edge and Microsoft services. Users can customize their experience by substituting services such as MSN Weather, MSN News, Bing Images, and Bing Discover with alternatives of their choice.
