Microsoft has unveiled a significant update for Windows 11, now accessible to users globally, alongside enhancements tailored for Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs. Enhanced Search Capabilities
At the heart of this update lies an upgraded Windows Search functionality, which now allows users to effortlessly locate files stored in OneDrive. This feature, currently available to Windows Insiders utilizing Copilot+ and Snapdragon devices, is set to extend its reach to AMD and Intel platforms in the near future.
Users can now input descriptive phrases like “European castles” or “summer picnics” directly into the File Explorer search bar, enabling swift access to desired images, regardless of whether they reside locally or in the cloud. Gradual Rollout and New Features
Starting today, Microsoft is expanding these updates from the Dev Channel to the Beta Channel, allowing users to opt-in at their convenience to explore the new features of Windows 11 24H2. Additionally, a revamped Settings home page is being introduced for enterprise-managed devices, featuring cards that present relevant information such as “Recommended settings” and “Bluetooth devices.” Users with both Microsoft and work or school accounts will also benefit from a new card detailing their account information.
Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements
This update addresses several bugs, including one that prevented preview windows from appearing when hovering over open applications in the Taskbar. File Explorer stability has been enhanced, ensuring it no longer crashes when handling folders with a substantial number of media files. Furthermore, offline Outlook search functionality has been restored, and the live captions icon in the taskbar is now fully operational, displaying correctly after disconnecting from a second monitor.
Remote Desktop capabilities have also seen improvements, with resolved display and rendering issues when connecting to specific computers. The Settings interface now operates smoothly when users interact with the Bluetooth and Devices page, eliminating previous freezing issues.
