Microsoft Issues New Insider Builds to Dev and Beta Channels

For users of Windows 11 enrolled in the Insider Program’s Dev or Beta channel, a new update is now available for installation. As has been the trend throughout the year, these updates are functionally similar, catering to the needs of both channels.

Those participating in the Dev channel can proceed with the cumulative update KB5060838, which elevates their system to Windows 11 version 24H2 build 26200.5661. Meanwhile, Beta channel users can opt for KB5060836 to upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 build 26120.4452.

As a special welcome gift, subscribers will also receive free copies of Paul Thurrott’s Windows 11 and Windows 10 Field Guides, typically priced at .99.

Both updates introduce two significant features:

  • Recall home page: Users with a Copilot+ PC will enjoy a revamped home page experience in Recall. This feature showcases recent snapshots alongside top apps and websites, all presented in an aesthetically pleasing user interface. A new navigation bar on the left provides easy access to Recall Timeline, Feedback, and Settings.
  • Hardware indicator improvements: The update brings a refreshing change to hardware indicators, which have remained anchored in the lower-right corner of the screen since the launch of Windows 11. Users can now reposition these pop-up interfaces for brightness, volume, airplane mode, and virtual desktops to the top-left corner or the top center of the screen, reminiscent of their placement in Windows 10. This adjustment can be made conveniently through the Settings app under System > Notifications > Position of the onscreen pop-up.
