Microsoft Paint’s AI features for Windows 11 out in more regions, including Image Creator
Microsoft is expanding the accessibility of its MS Paint application on Windows 11, introducing a new update that enhances the Paint Creator mode for users beyond the United States. This update, which began rolling out this week, brings the much-anticipated AI features to a broader audience, allowing more individuals to explore the creative possibilities of Paint.
Until recently, the “Image Creator” button, which leverages Bing’s AI capabilities to generate images, was absent for many users. However, following the latest update, the button has now appeared, enabling users to tap into the power of AI-generated imagery. While the Image Creator feature has been available for over a year, its limited rollout meant that not everyone could experience its benefits until now.
To utilize Paint’s Image Creator, users must possess a Microsoft 365 subscription and Copilot Pro, which unlocks the full potential of the AI image generator. The feature operates on OpenAI’s DALL-E technology, allowing users to input a text description of their desired image. Whether it’s a whimsical anime character or a majestic dragon soaring through the skies, Paint’s AI can bring those visions to life.
Creating an image is a straightforward process: users enter a descriptive text, select a preferred style, and click “Create.” This action generates three distinct variants of the image, from which users can choose their favorite and continue editing within Paint. While Paint may not rival the advanced capabilities of Photoshop, it certainly provides a user-friendly platform for basic image editing.
To access Paint Creator mode, users must meet specific requirements:
The Paint Creator operates on an “AI Credits” system, where users spend one credit for each image generated. With a Microsoft 365 subscription, users receive 60 AI credits monthly, with the option to purchase additional credits through Copilot Pro. These credits can be utilized across all Microsoft applications.
Generative Erase rolls out in more regions
Alongside the Image Creator, Microsoft is also introducing the Generative Erase feature to more regions this week. This tool allows users to select any portion of an image and remove objects seamlessly, thanks to Paint’s AI integration. By simply using the selection tool and activating the Generative Erase button, users can enhance their images with ease.
As these new AI features become available, users are encouraged to explore the creative possibilities that Microsoft Paint now offers. Have you had a chance to try out these innovative tools? Share your experiences in the comments below.
