Microsoft has officially embarked on the testing phase of Windows 11 version 26H1, marking a significant milestone in its development journey. Earlier this week, references to this version emerged within the code, paving the way for the release of Insider Preview Build 28000 in the Canary Channel.
Focus on Platform-Level Enhancements
This latest build does not introduce new features for the existing 25H2 release. Instead, Microsoft emphasizes that version 26H1 is dedicated to platform-level improvements, notably enhancing support for specific silicon, which may include the anticipated Snapdragon X2 chips.
Furthermore, the tech giant reassures users that Windows 11 will continue to adhere to its annual feature update schedule, with significant enhancements expected to roll out in the latter half of the year.
Bug Fixes and Known Issues
Accompanying this build are a series of fixes aimed at improving user experience. For instance, Microsoft has resolved issues with Live captions that previously caused crashes for some Insiders during earlier flights. Additionally, the login credentials window for Outlook has been made more accessible, aligning with user expectations.
However, Microsoft has also acknowledged a few known issues that Insiders may encounter. Users utilizing the new Start menu might experience unexpected jumps to the top, while some have reported difficulties with sleep and shutdown functions following recent Canary builds.
