Microsoft’s latest bid to cajole Windows 11 users into switching to Edge is a pop-up 3D banner – and I’m not impressed

Microsoft’s New Tactic to Promote Edge Browser

Microsoft has unveiled a new strategy to encourage Windows 11 users to make the switch to the Edge browser – a 3D banner. This unconventional approach is a departure from the typical prompts we’ve seen from Microsoft in the past, as the tech giant has long been trying to persuade users to adopt Edge.

According to Windows Latest, the 3D banner emphasizes Edge’s ability to protect against phishing and malware attacks, incorporating a visually appealing three-dimensional effect.

In previous attempts to promote Edge, Microsoft has employed tactics such as prompting users to use Edge when downloading Google Chrome on a new device. While these efforts may have their merits, the constant reminders and pop-ups can be off-putting for some users.

While Edge has seen improvements in recent years, including AI enhancements and new features, the persistent nudges from Microsoft may not be the most effective way to win over users. Many individuals, like myself, prefer to stick with their preferred browser, such as Google Chrome, and ignore the persistent prompts from Microsoft.

Ultimately, the decision to switch browsers is a personal one, and while Edge may have its strengths, the constant reminders may not be the best way to convince users to make the switch.
