The Windows 11 Beta will finally bring peace to your chaotic file organization

In the latest update from the Windows Insider Blog, the Windows 11 Beta has introduced a series of enhancements designed to streamline user experience and improve accessibility. Among these features is the much-anticipated “Recommended Files” section in File Explorer, which aims to simplify file navigation for users.

The Windows 11 Beta includes “Recommended Files” in File Explorer

This new feature, available in Beta build 22635.5025, allows users to quickly access relevant files based on their recent activities. The “Recommended Files” section displays a carousel of thumbnail previews, showcasing files that users frequently utilize, have recently downloaded, or added to their File Explorer Gallery. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for those who often find themselves sifting through folders to locate their latest downloads.

“Recommended files in File Explorer Home are now available to all Windows Insiders who are signed in with their personal Microsoft account (and local accounts).”

However, it’s worth noting that residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) may not have immediate access to this feature, though it is expected to roll out more broadly in the near future.

The Windows 11 Beta will also show you commonly-snapped apps in the Start menu

In addition to the file recommendations, the Beta version will also highlight commonly snapped applications within the Start menu. This feature recognizes pairs of applications that users frequently arrange side by side on their screens—such as Word and Outlook—and provides a shortcut to launch both simultaneously.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of “snapping apps,” it refers to the ability to position one application on one half of the screen while placing another on the opposite side. This functionality enhances multitasking efficiency, allowing users to work seamlessly across multiple applications.

As Microsoft continues to refine this feature, user feedback will be invaluable in determining its effectiveness. The company encourages users to share their experiences and suggestions as they explore these new capabilities in the Windows 11 Beta.
