A former Microsoft engineer, Jeff Fritz, is on a mission to breathe new life into the concept of Live Tiles as he develops an innovative application called DayFrame. Having recently departed from Microsoft, Fritz has been actively demonstrating his creation during various live streams, capturing the attention of tech enthusiasts and professionals alike.
DayFrame: A Fusion of Familiar Interfaces
DayFrame represents a unique blend of Windows Phone aesthetics and the organizational prowess of Outlook. The app is designed to serve as a persistent hub, providing users with seamless access to essential tools such as email, calendar, and contacts. Its layout draws inspiration from the iconic Windows Phone interface, promising a user experience that feels right at home on a Lumia smartphone.
The app features a distinctive tile rail on the left side, ensuring that all modules are just a tap away. These bold, square tiles, unmistakably blue, are designed to keep users engaged and organized. The main pane of the app dynamically displays whatever task or information the user is currently focused on, enhancing productivity and ease of use.

While DayFrame is not yet available for public use, it is currently listed as “Coming soon.” Fritz has indicated on X that a private preview of the app is expected to roll out within the next week, generating anticipation among potential users eager to explore its capabilities.
