Update for Copilot for Windows begins rolling out to Windows Insiders

Microsoft Copilot App Update Enhancements

Windows Insiders can look forward to an exciting new chapter as Microsoft initiates the rollout of an updated version of the Copilot app through the Microsoft Store. This update brings a series of significant changes and enhancements designed to elevate user experience.

It’s native: One of the most notable changes is the transition from the previous progressive web app (PWA) to a fully native version of Copilot. Following the installation of this update, users will notice the Copilot app seamlessly integrating into their system tray, providing easier access and a more cohesive experience.

New quick view: The update also introduces a new quick view feature, accessible via the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut on both Windows 10 and 11 PCs. This functionality allows users to move and resize the quick view window according to their workflow preferences. The quick view can be easily opened and closed using the same keyboard shortcut, ensuring that users can toggle between the quick view and the main Copilot app window with ease. For those equipped with a dedicated Copilot key, launching the main window is just a press away. Microsoft is committed to exploring additional keyboard shortcut options to enhance usability further.

Note: The Copilot app for Windows utilizes the RegisterHotKey function for the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut. As many applications currently employ this shortcut, Windows will prioritize the app that is launched first and running in the background when the Alt + Space command is invoked.

This update, designated as version 1.24112.123.0 and higher, is being gradually rolled out across all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store. As with any phased rollout, not all Insiders will receive the update simultaneously. Microsoft is eager to share these improvements with Insiders to ensure a superior Copilot experience for all Windows users.
