Windows 10 22H2 Release Preview and Beta build 19045.5070 (KB5045594) is now available

Microsoft has unveiled the Windows 10 22H2 Release Preview and Beta build 19045.5070, designated as KB5045594, for participants of the Windows Insider Program. This rollout is particularly exciting for those in the Beta Channel, as it introduces a suite of new features that will not be immediately accessible to the broader Windows 10 user base.

Enhancements for Windows Insiders

For those enrolled in the Beta Channel, the latest update brings a variety of improvements:

Settings

  • In the Settings > System > About section, users will discover a refreshed interface featuring new top cards that succinctly highlight essential hardware specifications of their devices. This redesign aims to keep users informed about critical details that influence their system’s performance. Additionally, FAQs have been integrated into this settings page, providing insights into current hardware specifications and their impact on device performance, thereby enhancing user experience.

Beta Channel Insiders eager to access these features sooner can activate the toggle under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. By enabling this toggle, users will receive updates as they become available. Conversely, those who prefer a more gradual rollout can keep the toggle off, allowing new features to be delivered over time as they are finalized.

Notable Features and Fixes

The update also includes several enhancements applicable to both the Beta and Release Preview Channels:

Start Menu

  • A new account manager is being introduced in the Start menu, simplifying the process of viewing account details and accessing settings. Users can switch accounts easily by selecting the ellipses (…) next to the Sign out option, with the Lock command now conveniently located in the power menu. Note that this feature will be rolled out gradually, so not all users may see it immediately.

  • [vmswitch] Resolved an issue causing a stop error when using Load Balancing and Failover (LBFO) teaming with two virtual switches on a virtual machine.
  • [Upgrade to Windows 11] Fixed a race condition that led to stop error 0x3B during upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
