Windows 10 KB5039299 fixes Taskbar search and Windows Backup glitches

Improvements in the Beta Channel

Exclusive to the Beta channel, the KB5039299 update brings an enhanced search experience using the search bar next to the Start button. Additionally, Windows Backup now stores Activity History and Printer Device Settings preferences, simplifying the backup process for common settings like default printer management. These settings can be easily restored when setting up a new PC with the same Microsoft account.

Fixes available for both Beta and Release Preview channels

  • Resuming to the hibernate state failed when Bitlocker was active. The issue is now resolved.
  • Taskbar jumplist launches when you right-click on an icon. Previously, clicking on the options in the list did not trigger any action.
  • Folder options in File Explorer added items when users clicked the remove command due to an incorrectly configured sync feature by third-party apps.
  • MSIX packages from HTTPS URI failed to install due to incomplete downloads, resulting in failed installations.

For a full list of fixes and updates, refer to the official announcement page for this new update. Microsoft recently introduced the Beta channel for Windows 10 Insiders to provide early access to these enhancements.

Stable Channel Update: Phone Link Feature

The stable channel received the KB5039211 update, introducing a new feature for Phone Link. Users can now edit screenshots captured on their Android phones directly on their PCs. When a screenshot is taken on the phone while connected via Phone Link, a notification appears on the PC, allowing users to launch the Snipping Tool for editing. Ensure you have the latest Cross Device Experience Host package version, available for download from the Microsoft Store, to utilize this feature.

While this update brings significant enhancements, it does not address certain known bugs, such as the profile picture error and conflicts with UI elements in the Copilot app.
