Windows and Xbox team up with ASUS to create ROG Xbox Ally handhelds

At the recent Xbox Games Showcase held on June 8, a significant collaboration between Xbox and ASUS came to light with the introduction of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. These handheld devices, powered by Windows 11, promise to redefine portable gaming.

Features and Capabilities

The ROG Xbox Ally series is designed to deliver an immersive gaming experience, showcasing a full-screen interface that integrates seamlessly with Xbox’s extensive gaming library. This collaboration aims to enhance the gaming journey by offering:

  • Access to a Diverse Game Library: Users can enjoy a wide range of games that are not available on traditional consoles.
  • Versatility of PC Gaming: The Windows operating system allows players to download games from various storefronts, providing a level of freedom previously unseen in handheld devices.
  • Multifunctional Capabilities: Beyond gaming, users can run applications like Discord, stream content on platforms such as Twitch, and utilize mods, all within the Xbox ecosystem.

Roanne Sones, Corporate Vice President of Gaming Devices and Ecosystem at Xbox, emphasizes the unique advantages these handhelds offer, stating, “Because these handhelds run Windows, you have access to games you can’t get elsewhere, so you can enjoy the full freedom and versatility of PC gaming.”

Both the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are set to launch in select markets just in time for the holiday season, with plans to expand availability to additional regions shortly thereafter. For more detailed information, interested parties can visit Xbox Wire.
