Windows update disrupts logins to Azure Virtual Desktop and Outlook

Windows 10 users may experience problems logging into Azure Virtual Desktop, Teams, and Outlook. The cause is the latest operating system update.

The recent rollout of Windows 10 update version 22H2 has introduced a wave of challenges for users attempting to access Azure Virtual Desktop. Many are finding themselves locked out, with login attempts leading to unexpected shutdowns that can last anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour.

These login difficulties extend beyond Azure Virtual Desktop, affecting popular Microsoft applications such as Teams and Outlook. Users report that the single sign-on feature often fails, and intermittent internet connectivity issues complicate the login process further.

Microsoft has identified a potential connection between these login issues and the FSLogix tool, particularly for those utilizing FSLogix user profile containers in multi-session environments. The company notes, “You are more likely to experience this problem if you use FSLogix user profile containers in multiple session environments.”

Additionally, Microsoft has indicated that the root of the problem may lie in a compatibility issue between the Azure Active Directory broker and the AppX deployment service, which underpins the functionality of these applications.

Waiting for update

Historically, Microsoft updates have been known to disrupt more than they resolve, leaving users in a state of limbo until the company can issue a corrective update. As the tech giant works to address these emerging issues, users are left to navigate the complexities of their daily tasks amidst the ongoing challenges.

In light of these developments, it’s worth noting that similar past updates have led to significant problems, such as boot loops and blue screens, particularly with Windows 11. The tech community watches closely as Microsoft prepares to tackle these latest hurdles.
