The beloved Horizon Zero Dawn has recently received a subtle yet significant update, now available for download. Developed by the talented team at Guerrilla Games, this franchise has captured the hearts of gamers, following in the footsteps of their earlier success with the Killzone series. While whispers suggest that we may not see a revival of Killzone anytime soon, hope remains alive for its return.

Originally launched on the PlayStation 4 in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn introduced players to Aloy, who has since become one of Sony’s iconic figures. Even on the PS4, the game stands out as one of the most visually stunning experiences available. The franchise continued to flourish with the release of the critically acclaimed sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, in 2022, followed by the expansion, Burning Shores, in 2023. This year, fans have been delighted with the introduction of LEGO Horizon Adventures and an impressive remaster of the original game.
In our review of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, we noted: “You may not have thought it possible, but this version of Aloy’s world is even more beautiful, with Nixxes’ subtle attention to detail resulting in a space that feels even more immersive and brimming with life. When you can upgrade for just £10, there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t.”
The remaster is being expertly handled by Nixxes Software, distinct from Guerrilla Games, and the PC version has recently received Patch 1.3. This update responds to fan feedback by introducing features such as Auto Pickup, allowing Aloy to collect items seamlessly without the need for player input. Additionally, a Colour Blind Mode has been added to the Accessibility Settings, enhancing the gaming experience for a broader audience.
Patch 1.3 also addresses various bugs and resolves an issue affecting the DualSense controller’s rumble feature when connected via Bluetooth. With Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered now available on both PC and PlayStation 5, players can immerse themselves in Aloy’s world like never before.
