The highly anticipated next-generation upgrade for GTA V and GTA Online on PC is set to become available for players soon. As the release date draws near, Rockstar Games has initiated the pre-loading phase for GTA V Enhanced.
Nearly five years after its announcement, this new version of GTA V is scheduled for release on Tuesday, March 4th. Owners of the game on the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, and Epic Games Store can look forward to accessing it at no additional cost.
Pre-load Begins
For those who possess a copy of GTA V on PC, the pre-loading process is now open, similar to previous Rockstar titles and recent updates for GTA Online on PlayStation. Simply select your preferred PC storefront to begin the download. Currently, pre-loading is exclusively available through the Rockstar Games Launcher.
The download size is approximately 90GB, necessitating an SSD for optimal performance. This file size aligns with the versions available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. However, the exact time when players will be able to dive into GTA V Enhanced on PC remains uncertain.
New artwork has been introduced on the Rockstar Games Launcher, featuring a cover that highlights the “Enhanced” branding, distinguishing it from the previous version. The original game has been rebranded as GTA V Legacy, while the upgraded version is officially titled GTA V Enhanced. It’s important to note that there will be no crossplay between the two versions, and Rockstar has committed to continuing support for the original iteration with ongoing updates. Take-Two’s CEO has also indicated that they will maintain their focus on serving GTA V and GTA Online players even after the launch of GTA 6.
