Meta’s Rolls Out New Feature For Messenger Users, WhatsApp-Like ‘Communities’ Feature Released

Meta Introduces ‘Communities’ Feature on Messenger

Recently, Meta has taken a page out of WhatsApp’s book and introduced a new ‘Communities’ feature on Messenger. This feature allows users to join communities without the need to be a member of a Facebook group, making it more accessible to all Messenger users.

Group admins now have the ability to create communities with up to 5,000 members who can chat in real time. Previously, users had to be part of the same Facebook Group to chat, but now this restriction has been lifted.

Meta explained that communities on Messenger are designed for more public conversations and do not follow the same privacy guidelines as personal messages. They are managed by community admins and can be joined by anyone on Messenger, providing a platform for connecting with people who share similar interests.

This new feature is expected to benefit schools, private groups, and organizations, allowing them to interact in a more organized and structured manner.

Meta Rolls Out AI Chatbot

In another update, Meta has launched its AI chatbot, Meta AI, for WhatsApp business accounts in India and several other countries. This chatbot is aimed at helping businesses improve customer support and discover new products.

Businesses can also utilize the AI chatbot to create ads on Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, Meta has introduced its Verified program for WhatsApp business app users in India, Brazil, Indonesia, and Colombia.

Verified users will receive enhanced account support and the ability to use WhatsApp on multiple devices for their employees. These verified business accounts will be distinguished by a blue checkmark next to their business name on the WhatsApp Channel and custom WhatsApp pages.
