Google Wallet has embarked on a fresh journey, unveiling a Material 3 Expressive redesign for its Android users. This update marks a significant shift in the app’s visual identity, as the traditional “Wallet” label in the top-left corner has been elegantly replaced by the app’s logo. This change not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also creates a more harmonious balance with the user’s profile avatar positioned on the opposite side of the screen.
Revamped Google Wallet on Android
The redesigned Google Wallet showcases several user interface improvements aimed at enhancing user experience. Notably, the pass card list has been expanded, allowing users to view more information at a glance. A new “Archived passes” button, encased in a pill-shaped container adorned with an icon, adds to the app’s functionality. Furthermore, a large floating action button (FAB) has been introduced, streamlining navigation and making it easier for users to access key features.
In addition to these changes, the recent activity page has undergone a transformation, now displaying entries in neatly organized containers. The first and last cards feature more rounded corners, contributing to a softer, more inviting look.
‘Wallet app’ shortcut added to web app picker
The rollout of Google Wallet’s Material 3 Expressive redesign appears to be a seamless process, with reports of the update emerging gradually. Alongside the enhancements on Android, Google Wallet has also introduced a new “Wallet App” shortcut within the web app picker available on all Google websites. This convenient shortcut directs users straight to wallet.google.com, further integrating the app into the broader Google ecosystem.
