Amazon MGM has made a strategic move by appointing Charlie Coleman, a seasoned marketing executive, as its head of international marketing. Based in London, Coleman will report directly to Sue Kroll, the studio’s global marketing chief.
Career Highlights
Coleman’s journey in entertainment marketing began in 2001 when he took on the role of marketing campaign manager at Disney. His career trajectory saw him ascend to the position of EMEA vice president and franchise manager, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the studio’s marketing strategies.
In 2019, Coleman transitioned to Warner Bros., where he quickly rose through the ranks to become the EVP of international marketing. Under Kroll’s guidance, he was instrumental in orchestrating successful marketing campaigns for blockbuster films such as “The Batman,” “Elvis,” and the “Dune” series, culminating in his recent work on “A Minecraft Movie.”
A Growing Team
Coleman’s appointment is part of a broader trend at Amazon MGM, which has seen several former Warner executives join its ranks. Alongside Kroll, Courtenay Valenti, who previously served as president of production and development at Warner, now leads Amazon MGM’s theatrical division.
In a memo shared with TheWrap, Kroll emphasized the significance of this hire, stating, “This hire marks an important next step as we continue to scale our global marketing capabilities. Charlie’s leadership, combined with the outstanding work already happening across this team, positions us to continue raising the bar as we bring our films to audiences worldwide.”
Looking Ahead
As Amazon MGM gears up for an ambitious release schedule, Coleman’s expertise will be crucial. The studio is set to launch a full theatrical slate annually starting in 2026, featuring an array of films including Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s “Project Hail Mary,” Travis Knight’s “Masters of the Universe,” and David Leitch’s “How to Rob a Bank.” Additionally, audiences can anticipate Luca Guadagnino’s thriller “After the Hunt,” starring Julia Roberts and Ayo Edebiri.
