Veterans of the German games industry have embarked on an exciting new journey by establishing a fresh indie publishing entity under the storied Artex name. This initiative is co-founded by Jan Klose, a notable figure who played a pivotal role in the creation of Deck 13, a studio that emerged as an offshoot of the original Artex Software, which operated from 1997 to 1999.
Reviving a Legacy
Reflecting on the origins of Artex, Klose remarked, “Back then, we developed games under the name Artex. More than a quarter of a century later, we want to discover and support young studios and start-ups in particular, because we see an incredible amount of creative potential here.” His vision emphasizes a commitment to fostering innovation within the gaming landscape.
In addition to nurturing creativity, Klose highlighted the importance of fair conditions and robust business development in their collaborations. “With Artex, we are starting a whole new chapter,” he stated, underscoring the company’s dedication to building a supportive ecosystem for emerging talent.
As anticipation builds, Artex is poised to unveil its lineup of indie titles next month at Gamescom. Among its initial offerings is a console version of the dungeon crawler Cralon, developed by Pithead Studio, marking a significant step in their mission to bring unique gaming experiences to a wider audience.
