Microsoft expands Xbox Cloud Gaming to Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers

Microsoft is making significant strides in enhancing its Xbox Game Pass offerings. In a notable shift, the company has announced that Xbox Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers will now gain access to a selection of PC games, broadening the gaming experience for users across platforms.

Previously, access to Xbox Cloud Gaming was exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, who paid .99 monthly for this privilege. However, as part of an ongoing Xbox Insider test, Microsoft is now allowing Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers to stream cloud games included in their subscriptions, as well as select titles they already own. This development marks a pivotal move towards making cloud gaming more accessible to a wider audience.

According to the Xbox Insider team, “As part of this Insider experience, Xbox Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers will be able to stream cloud playable games included with their subscription or select cloud playable games they own.” This expansion comes on the heels of Microsoft’s recent hints at exploring “more affordable” options for accessing Xbox cloud games, indicating a strategic shift towards inclusivity in gaming.

In addition to cloud gaming, Microsoft is also enhancing the PC gaming experience for Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers. The company stated, “As part of testing, Xbox Insiders subscribed to Game Pass Core or Standard will for the first time gain access to PC versions of select titles, giving you even more flexibility and the choice to play on a PC or Windows handheld.” This initiative not only diversifies the gaming options available but also caters to the growing demand for cross-platform play.

For those eager to explore these new features, joining Microsoft’s Xbox Insiders program is the first step. Once enrolled, users can visit xbox.com/play to access cloud games or utilize the Xbox app on Windows for additional PC titles, embracing a more versatile gaming landscape.
