Distributor Curveball moves into games publishing

Welsh distributor Curveball Leisure is embarking on an exciting new journey with the launch of its games publishing arm, Curveball Games. This initiative is being led by Ed Gregory, a seasoned professional with a rich background at PlayStation and PQube, who will serve as the senior publishing manager.

Curveball Games: A New Chapter

Situated in Cardiff, Wales, Curveball Games aims to offer comprehensive publishing support, including funding for both indie and mid-tier game developers. Gregory reflects on the current landscape of the gaming industry, noting, “The industry’s faced real turbulence over the past two years and whilst there’s evidently still some bumpy roads ahead, we are still seeing some nimble green shoots of recovery.” He emphasizes the need for a fresh approach, stating, “This moment calls for a fresh approach and that’s where Curveball Games comes in.”

Gregory believes that while passion fuels the gaming industry, studios require more than just enthusiasm to flourish. “Our role as a publisher is to champion developers, nurture creativity, and provide the support they truly need,” he asserts. With the expertise of his team and the backing of the larger Curveball group, Gregory is confident in their ability to uncover and elevate the next generation of standout talent.

Andrew Nauton, COO of Curveball, adds to this sentiment, reflecting on the company’s evolution over the past two decades. “Curveball has grown from humble beginnings into one of Wales’ growing success stories, rooted in the physical media market, a space where we’ve built a strong global presence and remain deeply invested.”

Nauton continues, “The launch of Curveball Games marks a new chapter for us. It’s a natural evolution that allows us to broaden our reach and bring fresh energy to our brand.” He highlights the combination of proven infrastructure, industry knowledge, and a passion for great games as key elements that will empower developers. “We’re dedicated to building enduring partnerships that elevate creativity and provide everything needed to make both our titles and Curveball Games a success,” he concludes.
